Reviews:
I'm more than happy to receive books for reviewing and promotional purposes. Upon receiving a book, my usual procedure is as follows: 1) blogging about receiving the book(s), 2) posting a review, 3) often times promoting it on my sidebar or through interactive contests/activities on the blog.
My focus is on young adult and teen literature. Often times I will accept a novel that dwells in the "grey area" (middle school level and adult), however it should have appeal to readers of young adult literature as to follow the purpose of this website.
Please note that I don't enjoy doling out a negative review -- I follow the whole "a face only a parent could love" type of policy with my books, as if being a parent to each of them. Having said that, I do give honest reviews. Thankfully I have quite a vast range of taste and very rarely dislike a book. My reviews are very fair, and I always give credit where its due. When I post or review books, I always strive to post links to amazon.com and other book stores, and often times will post about sales or coupons that are being offered at the time. In a nutshell? I will always try to make the most out of having received material.
When I accept a book to review, I cannot 100% guarantee to review it -- I say that to give myself some leniency. 9 times out of 10 I will review the book, however there are always times when something may arise; I'd rather put the disclaimer out there to keep my end of the bargain.
I try to read the books and review them as quickly as possible. For marketing purposes, I try to post ARC reviews surrounding the time of the release date. In the event that I'm unable to review a book by the release date, I will try to incorporate the book in the blog to the best of my ability (via contests, etc).
More often than not I will cross-post my reviews to other websites such as Amazon.com, Shelfari, GoodReads, LibraryThing, and, well, you get where I'm going. The more sites the reviews reach, the more publicity for your book.
My review format changes from time to time. I will try to summarize the book (without major spoilers!) as best as I can, though I find the most important and critical reviews to be unique and from the readers' point of view. I will incorporate my opinions and try to find a happy medium for every review.
Sorry, but at this time I do not accept .pdf files or eBook files. I do not have an eBook reader and I find it very difficult to read on the computer for long periods of time. I also do not currently accept self-published books.
Contests and Giveaways:
An interactive way to alert readers of new or upcoming books is to host contests. If you'd like to send books, prize packs, bookmarks, audio CD's, posters, autographed items, or other goodies to help promote your books, you're more than welcome to. If I receive duplicate copies, I will either extend the contest to multiple winners, or I can spread the material out in several different contests. I try to host creative contests, and enjoy interactive contests that involve participation that goes above and beyond drawing names out of a jar, though the latter will appear from time to time as well. If you have any guidelines you'd like me to follow for a particular contest, please include instructions in your email.
Interviews:
We extend an invitation to authors, editors, publishers, agents, publicists, as well as fellow bloggers to participate in an interview for the website. Interviews can take place by several different methods, so email me if you're interested and I will reply with more information.
Statistics:
This website (http://www.fauxliages.com) officially launched on June 12th, 2009. Aside from the blog statistics that can be found in the sidebar, I run several other websites and social networking sites where I'm able to promote the books as well. In total, as of 6/12/09, these sites have accumulated 69,908 recorded followers and 490,348 recorded hits in total. This does not include data that hasn't been tracked. Feel free to inquire about the breakdown of these stats in your email.
